Art of FACELESS photography (2012). Original work exploring identity, facelessness, and body image. This early photography informed the visual language of The Hollow Circuit™ universe, developed 2012-2026 Est. 2012
Body Image
We live in an age of celebrity.
Faces are everywhere.
Bodies only seem relevant when a face is attached to them.
The media is obsessed with the ‘face’ behind any creative piece of work.
Writers, artists, musicians, and photographers all come packaged with mug shots. Personal branding is pushed down our throats.
By removing the face, we can focus on the form.
Masks and facial coverings, in tandem with form, are very powerful and challenging images. They make us curious as well as uncomfortable.
Identity
What makes us identifiable?
Skin, Texture, and Fabric
Aren’t we all fetishists to some degree or another?
The very act of dressing, feeling a fabric against our skin, touch, aesthetic, and donning a second skin induce powerful reactions.
Psychology
The Art of FACELESS is also a vehicle for expressing psychological states and mental health.
There will inevitably be degrees of experimentation and challenging subjects.
Sexuality
Our own bodies react to visual stimuli in ways we sometimes find difficult to explain or even feel comfortable with. A faceless subject may allow us to explore these reactions and emotions unconstrained by convention.
Photography
The Art Of Faceless is slow photography and inhabits both digital and analogue worlds.
